2020-2021 SAA  Boys Travel Basketball Team Selection Informations

Updated October 23, 2020

As of now, the travel boys basketball program is under 'hold' status.  Due to the unavailability of gym time within the School District facilities, we are unable to hold tryouts and enter teams into the league which we have played. The Delco Boys Basketball League is also on a 'hold' status as the the league plays in school district facilities within the Eastern Delaware County area. If and when new information is available, we will communicate this through this web page and email.

Malvern League is an option for individuals within the township who would like their son to play competitive basketball this winter. The league has limited openings. It is suggested that you contact them ASAP to secure your son's spot. One note, this is a team entered league so it would be your responsibility to organize the team, collect the funds and register the team. It would  not be a Springfield Athletic Association sponsored team. More information is available on their webpage: malvernleague.com

Teams announced in Mid November. Practices begin Thanksgiving weekend.

Notes:
1. This year we will be selecting fewer overall teams. This is to due to the following reasons: 1. limited gym time, 2. an attempt to strengthen the intramural program. For this reason, some players will be referred to the intramural program at the time of team selections.

2. Your son must attend 1 session to be placed on a team. The more sessions that he attends the better he will be viewed by the evaluators and placed on the appropriate team for his ability.   Please note which age group your son will be placed into and have him attend this session if it does not conflict with another one of your child's in season sporting events (soccer, football).

3.  Your son must reside in the Springfield School District in order to eligible to play in the program and the league which we compete.Teams compete in the Delco Boys Basketball League

4. Tryouts are closed to parents and siblings.

Travel Program Policy (Adopted Sept 2018)
The boys travel program for the A division teams are in a win first league. These A level teams are playing in a competitive league. Each player will receive playing time in every game during the regular season. Some of the times, the time might be equitable among the players. In the playoffs and tournaments, playing time will likely be in favor of the more skilled players. This will be especially true as the age level increases.
