2021-2022 SAA  Boys Travel Basketball Team Tryout Informations

Updated: November 2, 2021

Tryouts for the the upcoming 2021-2022 season have been completed and rosters are being finalized this week. Thanks to all the kids for coming out this year and doing their best. In years past we attempted to have two teams at each level. This year we are limiting it to one team per grade because Scenic and Sabold gyms are not available for practices.  This will have an effect on the number of teams.

Emails will be going out this weekend after all rosters are finalized.

  ET Richardson Middle School

Who: Boys ages 15 and under.  (Grades 2 to 9).
ATTENTION: To get admitted to the tryout, your son must be registered through the Springfield AA website by 8 am on the day of the tryout and signed up for travel basketball. If their name is not on our list that we will pull from the SAA database, they will be turned away and have to return to another session.

Masks: The Springfield School District requires a mask while in the gym. Players do not have to have them while playing on the court.  However, they need one to get in to the gym and while not playing. All adults in the gym will need them on per SSD rules.

This is the Make up session for any player who was unable to attend the other try out times. Please do not send your any  player to this tryout if they attended a previous session.

Please do not bring players into the gym until the group in front of you has cleared out of the gym. We have to take roll of who attends tryouts so that all players can be notified after team selections are made.
Teams announced in Mid November. Practices begin Thanksgiving weekend.

1. This year we will be selecting fewer overall teams. This is to due to the following reasons: 1. limited gym time, 2. an attempt to strengthen the intramural program. For this reason, some players will be referred to the intramural program at the time of team selections.

2. Your son must attend 1 session to be placed on a team. The more sessions that he attends the better he will be viewed by the evaluators and placed on the appropriate team for his ability.   Please note which age group your son will be placed into and have him attend this session if it does not conflict with another one of your child's in season sporting events (soccer, football).

3.  Your son must reside in the Springfield School District in order to eligible to play in the program and the league which we compete. Teams compete in the Delco Boys Basketball League

4. Tryouts are closed to parents and siblings.

Travel Program Policy (Adopted Sept 2018)
The boys travel program for the A division teams are in a win first league. These A level teams are playing in a competitive league. Each player will receive playing time in every game during the regular season. Some of the times, the time might be equitable among the players. In the playoffs and tournaments, playing time will likely be in favor of the more skilled players. This will be especially true as the age level increases.
