Springfield Athletic Association
1943-2011
Sixty Five years plus and still growing, the Springfield Athletic Association from its inception has and always will be dedicated to kids in Springfield Township and the Morton Borough.
A tradition of excellence due to dedicated volunteers from the 1940’s forward the SAA has grown exponentially to a point now where well over 2,500 kids participate each year in a multitude of athletic programs. Those programs include; Basketball, Field Hockey, Wrestling, Softball, Baseball, Lacrosse, Volleyball, and Soccer, and cover a wide range of ages and abilities. SAA programs start for children entering Kindergarten and go non-stop until kids leave High School. When the year starts and stops kids in the Springfield/Morton area have something athletic to do.
It all starts with volunteers. In 1943 it was the dedication of Bill Crowell, and several other men and women to get the SAA going with just one single baseball team. Today the SAA has 100 plus teams in baseball and softball, in all categories from T-Ball to American Legion Seniors, and Del Val Softball. In basketball the SAA has from Kindergarten Basketball to Boys and Girls Del Val Basketball. Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Soccer have appeal to just the kids who want to have a great day to the more competitive travel categories.
The Springfield Athletic Association is looking for volunteers to help organize and operate different sports programs. The SAA has been around for over sixty-five years. The SAA benefits all the youth of Springfield Township and Morton Borough. We have had many Outstanding community members involved in the SAA over the many years, but we need more involvement now. We need caring individuals to give some of their spare time to keep things rolling.
